DRUG DOSAGES; IS (1×2) AFTER EVERY 12 HOURS OR 24 HOURS?
Take 1 tablet three times a day(1× 2) or take two tablets three times a day(2×3) etc are common terms we hear from the pharmacists when being given medication, but what is the importance of following these measures and what do they mean. When told to take one pills twice a day (1×2), you take the frequency i.e. twice a day divide by 24 hours therefore you take one pill after every 12 hours. When told to take 2 pills three times a day(2×3), you take the frequency i.e. three times a day divide by 24 hours therefore you take two pills after every 8 hours. When told to take 1 pill four times a day(1×4), you take the frequency i.e. four times a day and divide by 24 hours therefore take one pill after every 6 hours. Note that a day is calculated to be 24 hours and not 12 hours.
